Introduction

This USA customer is a ebike brand and sells online and he is developing a new 48v 1000W mountain ebike with dual battery to bring long range miles.

Battery Requirements

Voltage: 48V
Motor Power: 1pcs 1000W motor
Battery Energy: Dual battery total energy over 2000Wh
Battery cell Brand: LG 18650 3500mAh Cylindrical cell
Ebike Controller Rated Current: 25A

Dual Battery Solution Design Idea

Considering that the customer require 48v dual ebike battery, and energy over 2000Wh, then each single battery capacity should over 20.83=1000Wh/48V.

It can use LG 18650 3500mAh cell to make at least 6≈5.95=20.83Ah/3.5Ah parallels 21Ah=6*3.5Ah. So each single battery should be at least 48V 21Ah.

Use below 24V/36V/48V dual battery management module to manage the 2 48V 21Ah battery discharge.

As the ebike controller rated current is 25A, so it will use a 30A BMS in the 48V 21Ah battery.

Dual Battery management Module Introduction

It can detect the input voltage of two batteries at the same time and compare them.

1. When two batteries are connected and turned on, it will give priority to discharging the battery with higher voltage, and the other one will not be discharged. If connected to load, the battery with higher voltage has a larger discharge amount, and the battery with lower voltage has a smaller discharge amount, when the voltage of battery A is almost close to the voltage of battery B, battery A and battery B will be discharged at the same time.

2. If only one battery is connected, the connected battery can be discharged directly regardless of no load or loaded.

3. The dual battery management module itself will have a power consumption current of 3.5mA.
